[08-01] It's just...

Well, we're starting to see more. We know part of her motive now.

And really, the idea some seemed to get that she was going to try to actually seduce a comatose guy in his hospital bed? Really? Where do people get ideas like that, and why do they seem to congregate around webcomics.

They're the same sort of people who saw one panel of Karen visiting Rich in the hospital and assumed they had to be half-siblings.

I maintain that no amount of redemption is going to make up for this. It's a little worse than a faux pas to be discussing your elaborate seduction plan in a hospital room, over your prey, with other people (his friends, your nemeses) in the room. It's unnecessary and tasteless in the extreme. I see no reason why Karen would legitimately need to say this, at least not in a public setting, and that's what bugs me. Aside from her planned infidelity and her weird obsession with Penny and her habit of taking out her insecurities on other people by being an incredible bitch. But I digress. What Karen is doing is a lot like showing up drunk to a funeral: needless, tasteless, and incomprehensible.

I think if you edit your first post, it'll let you change the title. I'm not reliable, though, because I never make threads here and I mod my only other phBB forum, so I'm never sure what most people can and can't do.

When did anyone else enter the room?

As of Wednesday's update, Karen is the only one in the room with Rich.

It looked like Karen was looking up when she said "Hi," and like Stan took them into the room. Either way, Karen's acting in a very bizarre and disconcerting way; this is pretty gratuitous and bitchy even without an audience.

I'll wait to see what she has to say in total before judging her motives or her actions here.

Right now, to me, it appears that she thinks Rich is dying, and some people feel that it's important to clean the slate with someone before you or they are gone. I don't like Karen, but I also think that we need to judge based on what's actual being shown, and be fair-minded about it.

Nope. This is a confessional. No one else is present in the room, I'm pretty certain. She's reciting what her plan was, precisely because she doesn't think anyone will know about it.

And never say never. Ruling out the possibility of a character redeeming themselves is... well, it's just a tad judgemental. T's characters have a lot of depth; eventually, even the worst usually have a few likeable qualities. And they change over time. So don't be shocked if Karen shifts gears at some point in the future. I'm not saying this is it, mind you--especially if Penny walks in and gets Alpha on her ass just as she's coming to a moment of clarity.

Forty-Two: There's a different between rampant speculation and downright silliness. The half-sibling notion was at least plausible; seducing a comatose man healing from surgery really isn't.

Exactly.

That's also why I put it in the thread title, in hopes that it would be noticed more clearly by the speculators.

I don't think alot of people thought she was going to seduce a comatose Rich, well, I didn't anyway. It think what botherd most people is not only what she was planing to do while with Mar, but the fact she's saying it to a comatose Rich, mocking the half dead is just wrong! Plus I really don't like Karen, she's crazy!

Why does Rich go to an ice rink and sit around looking mopey? It just feels non sequitur for him to go to an ice rink of all places.

So why didn't she close the door? (I'm going to obsess over that open door, because I desperately want someone else to confront her over this. It would be wonderful to see that happen, especially if it were Marshall.)
