Well there's a twist. Or more acurately three twists. I didn't think Karen even knew Rich.

That’s right. But I kind of have an idea of why she wanted to talk with him (me and everyone, I guess.)
But my attention right now is on the other half of this strip.
And well.... right now there are a good number of wild theories in my head of why is Karen of all people there??

I'm going to explode waiting for Monday.

Somehow Karen knows Rich, Sara wanted to talk to Marshall, Stan's trying to kill Penny with his brain, Penny and Karen are going to be in the same room, and the gang's all there.

I think I know now why Rich's dad hates Penny so much, though. He's not just Rich's dad, I suspect, he's Karen's dad too. That would explain why he's heard about her quite unfavorably and at length, and there is a family resemblance among the three. Since Rich was pretty quiet about his family, Penny wouldn't have known, and Rich may be too cool to listen to little sis's problems (or he was intrigued and that's how he found Penny). If this is the case, we are in for the catfight of the century, with friends picking sides and slinging shit like there is no tomorrow.

Why do I get the feeling that Karen is planning on molesting Rich?

Little sister are the worst for girlfriends, in my experience. I'm not saying all little sisters are monsters, just the too-attached, girlfriend-hating ones.

But I like your idea, never thought of that. That actually calmed me down. Good twists out-weigh character hating, most of the time.

There's something about the formatting on these four panels that I like. I wish I could explain why that is. It just feels right for the art, which I also found inexplicably pleasing today.

Er, even more pleasing than usual. Sorry. Not expressing things well today at all.

My guess is because she's got that "come hither" look in her eye.

Sara wanted to talk to... Marshall? Unless that panel is a red herring (which is actually pretty likely), I assume it's because he's the closest she's ever come to really being attracted to a man, and so he's the "test" before she can admit to herself she's gay... or focusing on him will be the means by which she keeps herself forced into the closet. Or, she wants him to date a man so he can finally stop distracting Aggie from her destiny. In any case, there is a high potential here for a wacky or angsty misunderstandingish kerfluffle, which I hope doesn't happen since there's been enough of that lately.

No, I don't think they're related. It makes no sense. Rich can't afford things. He's "poor". Karen, on the other hand, can afford to throw a birthday ball where everyone is invited. Unless they're cousins or something.

Furthermore, Karen doesn't look exactly *sad* to see Rich like that.

I have no idea what's happening here.

Addendum: they're not siblings. Their last name is different. Karen Duvall, Rich Diggle.

To me, Karen's look appears to be the kind of forced positiveness that some people put on when talking to someone in Rich's condition.
