Because we really do love Jason

Postby CJ » Sat Jan 30, 2010 11:47 pm

There've been three topics about tips for Jason to improve his P&A art. But some of his character art has been solid, humorous, or just plain gorgeous.

I'm posting a few of my favorites, but feel free to post your own!

Penny in Strip #895, no question. So heartbreakingly beautiful, it changed my opinion on the P/A relationship issue from "Meh, maybe, don't really care" to "Yes, this needs to happen like yesterday."

Honourable mentions not listed above:

The tiger. Also Melody staring it down.

Teenage Lyn and Rob. Look at that third panel. Look at it.

Lisa. Those eyes...*adorablecuteness overload*

Oh, as for Katy-Ann: while she's indeed lovely in the strip you cited, I prefer her starring role in the lipdub. So sexy in a wholesome kind of way.

These are some really hard choices. Characters are definitely one of Jason's strong points, and he's great at squeezing as much emotion out of them as possible.

Definitely that gorgeous dream-Penny. Though, this Katy-Ann is a close second for me. http://www.pennyandaggie.com/index.php?p=955. I also really kinda like Daphne in the last two panels here, I know that feeling, and she looks so cute. http://www.pennyandaggie.com/index.php?p=871

I was fighting with myself over with Katy-Anne to use, since they both looked great. I guess I just got overwhelmed by how gorgeous her costuming is in that one, thoug I love the second-to-last panel in the song strip.

And as for Lisa, I just couldn't pick one. I've liked her look every time I've seen her, from when she's been adorable to when she's been crazy (like her hair when she says "YOU'RE MOCKING HER PAIN!" in the tiger storyline), and everything in between.

I do love her gravity-defying pigtails. Also seen here when Penny scares the shizzola out of her.

To be perfectly honest, pages 895, 877 and 874 were drawn during the "transition period" and contain artifacts of Gisele's work. I appreciate the praise, but I must give credit where credit is due.

When do you yourself see the "transition period" as having ended? (I see the emergence of your own P&A style most notably in "The Lady and the Tiger" and "Modern Maturity," but that's just me, and that might be influenced by those arcs also consisting of, IMHO, T's best writing since "The Popsicle War.")

I knew that was going to be the next question. The "Transition Period" really ended at the end of "The Lady and the Tiger".

You beat me to this. I was going to post a topic called "I'm sorry, Jason..." (like a certain rude one before), and then comment "today's clothes are awesome. I seriously want Brandi's coat.

ETA: And my favorite art? Aggie in recent storylines. Her face is absolutely precious, and she looks so vulnerable.

I'm particularly fond of his work on Duane and Charlotte - they both look great.
