Please. If anypony is fit for the office, it's Celestia. She's always right (except for that one time she wasn't, in the second season finale) and she has the combined skills of all three pony types, thus representing the three branches of the U.S. government. (I'll leave it to you all to figure out which pony type corresponds to which branch.)

Earth pony would be the Executive branch. It is the least extraordinary of the pony races, in that they cannot fly or use magic, but they can get things done when necessary.

Unicorn would be the Legislative branch. They study up and gain special skills so that they can change reality (by passing laws).

Pegasis would be the Judiciary branch. They soar high above the other ponies and keep an eye on things to make sure everything is going smoothly.

Non-Americans: "Executive" is the preisdent, who has virtually no power on zir own. "Legislative" is congress, who can create new laws. "Judiciary" is the Supreme Court, who can declare whether a law is or is not constitutional, meaning they get the final say in whether a law will live or die or change.
