There's a superstition in here that prohibits me, in good conscience, to congratulates Val on her early birthday.

Therefore, Val; please tell us here when it's the big date so I can properly say Happy Birthday? :D

Happy Birthday Val, I got you a birthday cracker.

See you pull each end and it pops. I would have gotten you a squib but I still don't know wtf a squib actually is.

So um...

I entered my own personal Valhalla last night without having to die first. My wife and I had a mind-blowingly hot date and she wants to keep seeing us..in fact I just stopped in to type this while I collected my sword and mead cup before heading back to the city.

I could make out with a pony without even being bothered by the taste of plastic and/or Scalzi right now. I love you all. Later!

I now own an actual quilt(ed )bag. How cool is that? Well, I suppose the rough and cheap way it was put together may not count as quilting, but who cares? Not me.

My happy thing today has been this forum. Freemage and Lia, thank you. You've each given me a good, hearty "laugh out loud" moment. :)

I had such a lovely day today! Mom had to pick up something from a friend's house a few towns over, so I went with her and we hit up a bunch of antique shops and resale stores to see what fun things we could find. (I bought a Lady's Hat! And a Q~!) And we had lunch at this retro diner that mom said was styled after the sixties but that I insisted was the fifties because it made me feel as though I should be wearing a poodle skirt. (I actually found one at this one store we went to, but it was too small for me, alas.)

Also this conversation with my dad:

Bubbles: I bought a breadbox!
Bubbles' Dad: What do you want a breadbox for?
Bubbles: To put things in! Like bread! Or possibly other things! As long as it's not bigger than a breadbox it's fair game. vOv

Thanks for the birthday wishes. <3 Y'all are great.
Trefle, what's the superstition on early birthdays?

Um, for my own... Well, today was very slow at work, which was great because I was very sleepy.
And my dad got us an air conditioner for my birthday! Now I just have to put it in and hope we have enough electricity to power it.

But...

Ota, I'm really glad to hear things are looking up for you. <3

Almost a week ago now, I ran out of one of my medications. I couldn't figure out why, without it, I was feeling better and not worse. It turns out that there were a few things going on. First of all, the medication apparently can worsen any intestinal inflammation disorders that someone has. . .since I have one of those, it was making it really bad. Secondly, I finally figured out that I had been reacting to the sulfa in the drug after all, and it was reaching toxic levels. I am feeling much better, but I'm still not very well. It does appear that the medication- which I was on for blood pressure and as an anti-androgen for transition, was causing my body to dedicate resources to trying to fight the illness and my body wasn't transitioning very well because of it.

The bad news is that I've got a pain in my side now. I don't think it's in my kidney since it goes all the way up and down my side from about halfway up my ribcage down to my hip.
There was a girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead, and when she was good, she was very, very good, and when she was bad she was homicidal.

I don't know about Trefle's country, but here in Germany there is a "superstition" (which isn't really taken seriously, but is adhered to anyway as a matter of custom) that early birthday wishes bring bad luck, or at least will fail in their intended purpose of bringing good luck.

For similar reasons, by the way, you are not supposed to open your presents early.

Belated birthday wishes, on the other hand, are fine. So... belated happy birthday to you, Valerie!

I like poking around antique stores and resale stores to see what kind of cool stuff I can find. The breadbox and the plaster masks (those are very fragile, by the way; I had five but two have shattered due to carelessness) are just some of my prizes.

You stated the very reason why I remember those masks...broke two of them, had to replace them. Luckily they came from a dollar store so they were cheap but for a 12 year old it was expensive!
