I don't mean to get too personal, but from some things you've mentioned before, I assumed you and your wife had something like an open relationship? So can't you, um, get rid of your frustration elsewhere, if she's okay with it?

God, I don't know. That is the very closest I can get to advice. Your situation feels too similar to mine for me to be much help. I'm sorry. Just do whatever is going to be best for you. Be happy.

That... sounds like a very shallow tack to a much, much deeper issue.

My kitty went to the vet today, and didn't come back. She was a good cat; I'll miss her.

Oh, Louisa, I'm sorry to hear that :(

We had the same thing happen about a month ago. HUGS.

My sympathies, Louisa. I had the same experience 4 years ago with my cat.

My girlfriend can't go to the college she's been planning on going to for most of her life because she just doesn't have the 5 grand the scholarships and loans don't cover (bare minimum, UIC costs 14k, but rooming costs ~10k and her parents are kicking her out of the house when she graduates/starts up college, and she's only been able to get up to 19k in grants and loans and her family has zero money to give to her for college). She's as stubborn as I am, and she's refusing to let me help pay for it.

Well, again, if she's okay with it. If they do have an open relationship, I don't see it causing too many problems. That's how open relationships work, right? I've never been in one, but if everyone involved is okay with it (and uses the appropriate safety precautions), it can't get too ugly, I think?

But okay, uh, enough talking about Otaking's sex life. He's going to sue me for harassment at this rate. >_>;

Louisa: *hugs* My cat was put down a few years ago. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sigh...I think I've just lost it with my aunt. I love my aunt dearly, but I swear she refuses to understand things when I try to talk to her. OK, I was trying to explain to her that I have a lot of problems with how the issue of bullying has been handled, and that, initially, the It Gets Better Campaign was focused a bit too much on being the victim (in part because Dan Savage tends to love to play the victim). It's a common problem in the LGBT Community, in fact. What I felt needed to be said- so I said it- was that it wasn't so much that the bullies go away (because, honestly, they don't), but that you learn to walk the eff away from them. Outside of school, you have a lot more power than you do when you're in school, and so, you can walk away.

Here's the thing, I was bullied a lot in school. I was bullied because 1) everyone thought I was gay 2) I'm overweight 3) I'm a redhead 4) I wear glasses. When I grew up, I found that the bullies didn't go away so much as hide, and that I had the ability to walk away from them or even fight back. I thought that message needed to be said, and that by saying that the bullies go away when they clearly do not just made the whole thing seem too rosy.

My aunt's attitude became clear when she said that the reason why lesbians don't tend to see me as a lesbian is I didn't grow up a lesbian. I just hit a point where I know that I can't talk to her because she doesn't really have a fucking clue about the dynamics involved and isn't willing to listen because she seems to think she 'knows it all' because she hung out with a bunch of gay men for years. Thing is, there's a lot of lesbians who don't grow up lesbian, but come out later in life. They aren't labeled as being not-lesbian because of it.

Sigh.

And, actually, I am pretty well accepted as being a lesbian except for the most extremely narrow-minded groups who equate being born with a penis as being irrevocably male because I AM so female.

Louisa : I'm so sorry. *hugs* May she rest in peace in cat heaven.

Otaking : ...I don't know your problem but judging from Val and Mr. Brightside's response, it doesn't sound light. Bests of luck. I'm with the group of "please do not hesitate to TALK if you've got problems", but I guess some problems can be too personal to share. Try to relax, take and do what it takes to make you feel better, preferably with no people harmed or hurt. :|

FarkUp : ....that really sucks. I'm going to go blind shooting on this one, but is there any possibility to find more work and save money? So that she didn't take the disappointment of not going to the college she's planning to go...

Arte: Some people just have different perspective and experiences, I guess. You were right on that IGB was too..victim mentality-focused, at this rate. ("PERSEVERE! THEY WILL GO AWAY!" No. Not without the government taking serious attempts, or not until you get stronger and fight, or numb enough not to register the hatred) I mean, they are good as a bandage, and DEFINITELY EFFECTIVE as a solace, a medicine for lost hope; but as a solution? Nope. She have good intentions, I'm assuming. She just lacked the experience and perspective to see things in your way; and if she isn't willing to understand your perspective, then let it go. As long as she's helping, that's...good.

Trefle,

You're right. I think what hurt the most is just the fact that she knows better than to try and push the issue of my growing up female.

You ever have one of those days where you wake up, get the small feeling you should probably just go back to sleep and stay in bed all day, get up anyway - and then get proven right not even two hours into it? That's been my day so far. -_-

Had a fight with Dad this morning. Because working for eight hours, on my feet, with no breaks, is apparently not an excuse to be exhausted.
