If I were Lisa, I would have called it a day and introduce myself to the teacher next class, making a sorry story about why I missed class last time. It's the first class, it's very unlikely they would be seeing anything too important.
Also, I wouldn't wear that shirt to *any* class.

As a Teacher, just by her hair alone I would immediately label her as a troublemaker, add the shirt, and the dramatic entrance, and unless she manages to change my opinion of her, I wouldn't tolerate any of her antics.

Chrissie is in the back row. And takes Lisa to task after class for being ultra-rude. Only acceptable outcome.

Your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elderberries.

No seriously. This is college. You wear shirts and it's not like she's wearing anything indecent.
Her hair is quite tame and I'll be damned if I understand why hair color is related to troublemakers.
Dramatic entrance is uncalled for, I'll give you that.

She can't catch a break? Well maybe she could catch one if she believed that anyone other than herself mattered. Her whole whine to Hank was about how she couldn't magically fix someone by being super awesome, and then she storms into a class she's late for, interrupting everything. After all, SUPER important Lisa needs to know what she missed! The idea that people might be busy and not worried that she missed stuff apparently didn't enter her head.

I'll be happy when the adventures of super privileged Lisa take a break for some more Sarah, who may be a dumb, horny teenager but at least she knows she's not the center of the universe.

Sorry, I didn't expressed myself quite correctly.
After her dramatic entrance, the shirt that basically means "I copy my works from the internet" *and* the hair, I would label her as... well okay, maybe troublemaker isn't the word... class clown? I dunno(screw labels) I just know that I would keep an eye out for her. Mostly the entrance, and the others wouldn't be factor by themselves.

Then again, maybe I'm biased because that's an arts college and completely different to what I'm used to.

I'm also sorry if I overreacted a bit, it's just that when it comes to teachers easily judging I'm a bit...sensitive to say the least. (having been almost failed classes despite being the best in class simply because of my hair color, actively insulted numerous times, being framed and forced to change schools, having a teacher ignore a senior who beat me to the pulp and sexually harassed me, basically forced to have spasmophilia attacks in class, was randomly accused of being a snitch and had the whole class turned against me...all these by different teachers over the years).

We're talking a teacher who can't separate his class material from his personal contempt so I'm certain that he would be the kind to judge a student by her style, but that is not what a teacher should be expected to do either way. Not that they don't (Lord knows that they do), but I hope that one day teachers will learn that they're paid to teach and not to judge.

The entrance was in very poor taste, but from that to insta-putting a student on the to-watch list? Kinda harsh.

No it's not, but at least she doesn't have a problem giving phone sex like a former friend of hers.

It is, but it's a very dumb decision to make that big of an entrance, whether you're late or not.

First impressions matter, and we teachers are also human beings, we are going to judge you depending on the little time we see you in class: We have to teach several people at the same, and usually it's not the only group we teach.

Not every student is interested in your subject, or has prejudged notions about it, or just plain don't care Teaching is hard even without the class clowns, and you need to separate the good apples from the bad ones, even if you're judging them. Most of the time, students who actually want to learn would be quickly noticed, and what Lisa is doing right here right now outs her in the black list

DID I MISS ANYTHING?
Tom Wayman
From: The Astonishing Weight of the Dead. Vancouver: Polestar, 1994.
Question frequently asked by
students after missing a class

Nothing. When we realized you weren't here
we sat with our hands folded on our desks
in silence, for the full two hours

Everything. I gave an exam worth
40 per cent of the grade for this term
and assigned some reading due today
on which I'm about to hand out a quiz
worth 50 per cent

Nothing. None of the content of this course
has value or meaning
Take as many days off as you like:
any activities we undertake as a class
I assure you will not matter either to you or me
and are without purpose

Everything. A few minutes after we began last time
a shaft of light descended and an angel
or other heavenly being appeared
and revealed to us what each woman or man must do
to attain divine wisdom in this life and
the hereafter
This is the last time the class will meet
before we disperse to bring this good news to all people
on earth

Nothing. When you are not present
how could something significant occur?

Everything. Contained in this classroom
is a microcosm of human existence
assembled for you to query and examine and ponder
This is not the only place such an opportunity has been
gathered

but it was one place

And you weren't here

Oh Lisa you really stepped in it...walking into this guy's class late wearing a Kopimism t-shirt would be like walking into a fundamentalist Pentecostal church wearing a Satanic reversed pentagram and glue-on devil horns...

Still, Mr. Music Teacher needs to brush up on his history, the strangulation of independent artists by Big Media using underhanded collusion and payola (Clear Channel anyone?) is what killed his band, filesharing culture was the (admittedly no better for the artist) counter reaction by the earliest progenitors of today's Internet anarchists. And sadly, he's probably too bitter to realize that out of the ashes of the dying music industry and beleaguered filesharing community, is emerging a new era in which he could offer his works directly to his fans and receive percentages of revenue formerly only dreamed of by media giant CEOs.

Hear! Hear!

I do recognize the right and the need for artists to earn money for what they produce, and I do pay for most of my music, but I've never bought the claim that filesharing is the horrible, horrible evil that the recording industry wants us to believe it is. Maybe if the international music corporations had moved to embrace digital delivery much earlier, rather than continuing to charge enormous markups for CDs (with ecologically-unsound packaging to boot) while paying their artists a pittance of what they make, maybe if they hadn't completely botched their public image by suing young children, elderly people and the estates of deceased people for thousands of dollars...then maybe they wouldn't be in the bind they're in today.

Small wonder increasing numbers of recording artists are bypassing the corporate model and, as you say, offering music directly to their fans, often on a pay-what-you-can-afford basis, or at least not a 1000% mark-up basis.

Who the hell enters a class and loudly asks "WHAT'D I MISS?"? I mean, this time I don't find Lisa particularly annoying, heck - I'm amused by her antics. But egocentric much? Heck, barging in and turning everyone's attention towards herself - that could happen to anyone, she was in a hurry and didn't think. But I'd expect her first words to be "sorry I'm late!" or even "is this [class name]?".

No, really. For one thing, I don't know about teacher/student relationship dynamics in the US, but isn't that way of introduction extremely rude towards the guy teaching the class?

Very much so. (And, of course, what might really irritate the prof is that she looks less... abashed in that final panel and more, "but I'm still cute, right?")
