Off-topic: Happy things

[Captain LeBubbles]

Guys, this just made my day earlier. It's from the political column in my local paper.

(Bit of context: I live in a tiny little town in Georgia, and most of the people here are quietly, and sometimes not-so-quietly, bigoted in some way.)

"It seems that a lot of Georgians who are not gay, immigrants or Muslims spend and awful lot of time worrying about what gays, immigrants and Muslims are doing. Bills designed to make sure Georgians do not succumb to these seemingly nefarious folks occupy a good bit of the Kabuki legislation docket. This is not to say these activities are a total waste of time. Legislators will often use their support for such needless legislation to assure voters that they are fighting to make sure their constituents will not have gays, immigrants or Muslims sneak up on them and convert them when they're not looking."

The column was about how legislators are using people's pointless fears to draw attention away from other legislation they don't want them paying attention to, but it was that part specifically that made my day. Very much a take that to the people reading his column every day.
