Lisa, say what you will about her (and you all will), is someone who, yes, does love attention and does have a generally high self-image, BUT does genuinely care about others. So I suspect she's indeed avoiding showing that concern right this moment, because of the post-coital stupids and also, as a few others have said, her anxiety to put the previous night behind her. However, I find it extremely unlikely that what happened to her that night, both good and bad, was enough to cause a complete and total personality change, such that she now has no empathy for anyone. Remember the way T structures and paces his story arcs: one panel, even one comic, in isolation is almost never enough for us to get the full measure of a character's motivations.

So if you're someone who normally is okay or better with Lisa but are now having second thoughts... wait a bit. Read on. Give the story a chance to unfold strip by strip. I have every confidence that Lisa's fans will not be disappointed.

Yeah, she had a rough night. That does not excuse her for so plainly not caring about what is obviously tearing up her sex partner. When Stan was sleeping with Michelle the first time, he stopped in the middle to talk to her because he was concerned. Lisa tried to calm Chrissy down, but I didn't detect much actual comforting going on. There's no concern in her words or on her face, which, as someone (I think it was Sri?) already mentioned, is hidden from Sara and would have no reason to lie. She has this contented smile that is obviously real and she's more-or-less saying, "I got mine, what do I care?"

No one's perfect, and I'm not expecting Lisa to be perfect, but I always thought she was at least less callous than this.

Stan also knew Michelle infinitely better and longer than Lisa knew Chrissie. Plus we saw him in the middle of sex, probably in the day or early evening, vs. hearing Lisa in the middle of the night after being woken up, and then first thing in the morning. Stan's also got more relevant experience and self-image on the line.

And yeah, she's got a contented smile. She had fun, at last. Chrissie probably did too, at the time.

I think you're misreading those events.

1: She was more asking why Aggie cared about Penny's friends--which was behavior that didn't fit the Aggie mold, unless there was something going on in Aggie's head that was kinda interesting.

Coming very late to the party, I think Lisa's attitudes right now are irrevocably annoying, most likely OOC, most definitely a form of Jungian Shadow.
Which is why I won't be so quick to label Lisa. Girl has a bad day, and it's unfair to judge her entire being has changed, or probably unrevealed-- by the actions happened when she was probably at her lowest point recently or so. What she did is unforgivable, and I won't deny it.... now I'm waiting for her redemption, sort of. Or whether if she tried to.

Or whether if Sara's going to call her out on this.

The character of Chrissie interests me, for some reason. There are probably lots of untangled webs that we will see in the future.

With the equating of the video with "Leave Britney Alone!", the "I DON'T fixate on your archenemy's friendlist", and the "Koan like nature of why we care what happens to Penny", it certainly doesn't seem like she thinks of it as a big deal, even though Sara's ALREADY in their social circle. That's why it SEEMS to me like she's just not worried about much involving others. Aggie, she cares about, yes, and we see that later on in the strip. NotAggie people? Not nearly as much.

2: I'm on record in earlier threads (not the original; I wasn't here then) about how uncomfortable Lisa's actions during and after the 'kiss-rape' event were, especially because she SHOULD know from having Fred and Daphne in her social circle just how much of a challenge coming out is for a gay teen. Her attitude was one of unconcern when confronted by Aggie and humor when Sara approached her later. Those don't add up to me to a 'caring' person. To my eye, she's made strides, but she's still pretty Lisa-centric about most things, including this recent encounter. Since it's just my opinion, though, it's certainly not a universal truth.

It is like both people have an understanding it's casual sex and it's no big deal, unless it really sucks or is weird for some reason. At which point communications generally cease; not to be resumed in the future. Not everyone is equipped to attempt to tackle deep seated psychological or sexual problems with someone they just met twenty minute ago..presumably for some fun and excitement. Lisa is likely to have had somewhat of a bad night being forcibly ostracized from her friend and may have been looking for a high.

It is also like one party is moony eyed and the other party callously doesn't notice and hurt feelings abound from there.

I'm still firmly in the Lisa fanboy camp, but since I didn't have her up on an unrealistic pedestal, I still like her.

Interestingly, forumites here seem to attack anyone who doesn't behave like Mother Teresa for some reason. I just get this undercurrent of nitpicking at anything removed from unachievable perfection here because it seems to make people feel superior. I get this in one way, because it provokes 'lively discussion' and nerds do like to argue which I'm totally down with. However moral perfection would make for really unrealistic characters....and by the way who is the arbiter of the moral compass? Some dude said it a few posts ago much better than me and in one line.
