My bet goes to it being because it was not intended to be nazi porn.

Of course, not. It was intended to be inmates porn.

Also, Lisa's expression is win.
Keep smiling! It makes people wonder what you've been up to :D

I kinda have a hunch that Lisa's reaction has less to do with fear of Hank discovering that Hans is him, and more to do with being mad at him for reading her short story draft that he wasn't supposed to read, at least not yet.

Previous strip shows Hank gets that what he is doing is nosy, and may feel the need to apologize once he sees Lisa in the room, assuming she doesn't run and hide before he detects her.

Okay, I know this might be a bit much to ask, but can someone tell me what this page and the previous one says? I honest to god cannot read cursive writing. I don't even care if you can't tell me what it is word-for-word, I just need to get the gist of what's going on. I feel so lost :(

Page One wrote:"Questions demand answers," Mengele continued. "Perhaps you believe you can deceive me. You cannot. I know a whore's eyes. I know the things you Jews do with each other." His gaze traveled along the line of nude prisoners and lingered over Maya for just a moment, just long enough. "Disgusting."

Despite the commandant's clear orders to stand at attention, Maya's hands moved to her hips, then across them, one quarter-inch at a time as if they could hide her shame without her knowledge. Mengele slapped each hand once, his eyes glinting.

"But honesty is a virtue in scientific inquiry. Speak of your depravities and you may live. Hide them and you will die."

The Jewish men in the adjacent room, within clear earshot were mostly grateful to be excluded. But there were two who were not. Two who had fallen to the yellow star but had so far escaped the pink triangle.

Page Two wrote:Quietly, Daniel coughed. Even their coughs were quite whenever they could manage it. Like abused animals, the internees all sought to avoid attention, but these two most of all.

Should their "depravities" be admitted, even their fellow prisoners would turn upon them without mercy. There was no reason to believe Mengele's promises applied to them, none and less than none.

Yet Daniel felt a confession welling up in his own throat, and looked into Hans' eyes for a moment. Daniel was so thirsty for hope in this desert. So very thirsty. Hans returned the gaze, steady and strong.

Mengele was lying. They would all die. And those who confessed would go first. Questions demanded answers, and the "Jewish question" and the "homosexual question" were drawing near to their final resolution.

I think that's it.

I like the fear and repressed rage conveyed by the prisoners' clenched fists.

Lisa must pen a compelling essay- look how engrossed Hank is!

To clarify: DId Lisa illustrate this story, or are the images we're seeing in Hank's head?

I assumed the images were what Lisa imagined while writing it.

That kinda implies that she wrote the story specifically to hurt him, and not just as a petty self-pleasure. I'm not sure if that's the case... but her reaction looks pretty freaked and scared to me. She's even clutching her heart... I think she's expecting the worst, that he'll realise it's about him and that he'll do Something Bad in retaliation. If she does get mad, I don't see it being an honest anger, more a cover.

But looking at Hank's eyes, I have to wonder...

... is Lisa about to be accused of homophobia?

((Also, yay, I have a unique theory! So far...))

ROFL.

Anyway;
so it seems that Lisa's writing ain't that bad...for now.
I've got a feeling Lisa herself realized the exploitation factor of it; at least in intentions. Hank, however, wouldn't. Thus he will see her written story as "a good, deep story talking about troubled people (like me?) in troubled times.". Lisa, however, probably unconsciously sees her story, with the not so unconscious inclusion of Hank, as "secret crush diary-slash-love letter, like TWILIGHT BUT WITH THIS GAY PERSON I OVERHEARD TALKING", hence her reactions.
But her reaction is HILARIOUS. WILL SHE ADMIT IT?
...Will this be a start of a beautiful...*ahem* friendship, inbetween Lisa and Hank?

I'm reminded of when I played WoW. My guild had one horde guild that we would regularly ZOMGWTFBBQPWN in PvP every time we ran into them near the raid instance entrances. Fun times. I don't think I've seen these constructions outside of gaming.

Yeah, I haven't played WoW in years but OMGWTFBBQ is definitely a (phrase? acronym?) I associate with WoW. I'm sure it's an online gaming thing in general, I just never played much multiplayer anything on PC in the l33tspeak era apart from WoW (and you don't really type much with multiplayer games on console, on the whole).

For some people, especially privileged white people-person types from North America, simply being embarrassed over having your new crush reading something you're not ready to show to others is on par of importance with "he'll do something bad."

Alas, you were closer than I regardless.

Embarrassment isn't always something you can shrug off, although she does still have the excuse of being 18 and stupid.
