QUILTBAG'S FIRST ANNUAL TRICK-OR-READER CONTEST!

Postby TCampbell » Thu Oct 27, 2011 8:57 pm

On Monday and Wednesday, Sara and Lisa will be meeting some of their new dormmates after their R.A. says "Tell us your name and something about yourself."

And you, dear readers, are invited to send in a name, a picture, and a self-description... your own, or someone else's! (You may post publicly to the forum, send me a private message via the forum, or e-mail me at tcampbell1000@gmail.com.)

By doing so, you entrust this material to the Fates. Your material may not be used at all, it may be used once, it may be mixed around... or it may end up inspiring a recurring character. All proper credit will be given in the margin of the strip in question, though, with honorable mentions on Friday if your material wasn't used.

Help us conduct this grand experiment in collaborative comics-making, and expand our imaginative grasp of campus life! And take a shot at making Jason draw something! I mean, why not, right?

Sorry, just to clarify - are we entering ourselves or friends (in other words, real people), or are original fictional characters an option?

Wait, are you seriously proposing that people post pictures of themselves (or even worse, their friends) with their IRL names and a description of who they are to a public forum? Talk about a thermonuclear powderkeg waiting to happen.

Should we post our addresses and a list of our worst fears, too?

I doubt he wants surnames, and I assume he wants you to get your friend's permission first.

And, especially in the case of people who are active on the forum, it's not a huge deal. Hell, you guys already know a ton about me. My name is Valerie, I'm married, I'm from Louisville, KY but live in CA now, I used to work at Borders, I now work at Jack-in-the-Box, I'm 21, I'm open to either gender (or would be, if I were less married)... These are all things that have been said on the forum already. Not to mention you'll get my last name if you click on my signature, but I'm one of the cases that doesn't really care much about that. (Most people are less willing to give out last names and I won't judge them for it.)

The only thing left is a picture. Oh, oops. That's from like three years ago, but I figure it's good enough. I might as well say that this is an entry from me.

Um... I'm agnostic, I like to draw (but don't have a ton of time for it these days), I have two jobs (the other is at Dollar Tree; I just take all the glamorous jobs), also work from home a little, and have been described as a workaholic (and yet still find time to get on here and argue about things like Lisa's underwear not being fanservice), my favorite color is purple, my mom almost named me Cheetah, I have five siblings (one older, four younger), um... I... am 5'5"-ish and stay around 100-105 pounds (I guess that's relevant)... My family (we are from Kentucky) is pretty big on gender roles and I'm pretty resentful of anything that suggests I should be a certain way because I have lady parts (but not to the point of being a strawman), I think I wanna go into either psychology or something gender-studies-related if I end up in college...

A lot of people seem to think I'm a cynical, heartless bitch. I'll let you interpret that for yourself, though.
A lot of people have trouble telling when I'm serious/joking, as my jokes tend to be a little on the mean side, so when I say something genuine that's mean, it tends to get shaken off.
These tend to be the same people. Which is a little confusing, honestly.
I say "tend" a lot.

Shoot, I could easily make a character out of any of the forum-goers. Alice* is from Canada and is married to Tamar. Alice is bisexual and will correct you if you say she's a lesbian because she feels that bisexuality isn't present enough in society. Alice is not actually named "Alice," but I don't know if her real first name is common knowledge, so I won't go there. She's 20-21, somewhere in there. And we do have a picture of her from her wedding, so we have a basic idea of how she looks. That's pretty much all the information T would need to make a character.

He also gives the option of emailing him. You know, privately. Not on a public forum. Personal information is an important thing, and I understand that, but he's not asking for our SSNs and bank accounts.

*Please don't be upset with me for using you as an example, Alice. You're just one of the most prominent posters here, so it fit what I was saying. If it bothers you, please let me know and I'll remove it.

Pink Freud, the information doesn't have to be accurate.

For instance, I'm submitting, a picture of a random woman cosplaying as Zatana at a con, the name Ralph, and a back-story about how an innocent Christian fundamentalist boy wandered into a Rocky Horror Picture show by accident and emerged two hours later as Lola, the transgendered tapdancing Chicago-school conservative economics major.

Oh, and Ralph's social security number is 203-84-7016.

@Valerie: Nah, I don't mind your using me as an example. 'S cool. Not like I exactly shy away from attention. (And some of you wonder why I like Lisa so much?) And yes, my real name has neither "Alice" nor "Macher" anywhere in it.

Also, prettyful photo is prettyful. ♥

Makkabee: I know you're trying to make a point, but you probably shouldn't be posting SSNs, even fake ones. That number likely really belongs to someone, somewhere.

Alice: Thank you. <3

X3 Thanks. It was actually a Gaia friend. His username had "Fire" in it, so we all called him that.
But I like your pyromaniac take on Independence Day, so I'll be there. <3

Long time reader, first time poster!

Hi there, I'm Armond. I'm 23, 6'0, single, and Multi-racial. I live in CA and I'm a full time student/part-time retail slave. I describe my orientation as "straight-ish" (love the girls, partial to transgendered women.) I'm a non-practicing Christian, can't seem to agree with organized religion. I like to talk politics, nerd/anime talk, and love to hear and tell jokes. I'm a gamer, a writer, an artist, a nerd, a lover, a fighter, and a thinker.

Anything else you'd like to know (that goes for the forum-goers too...) PM me or check out my FB on my profile.

Valerie, you are incredibly hot. Just saying.

So, I'm Ioana(Romanian version of Joanna). 21 and a theoretical polyamorous pansexual, though currently in a monogamous hetero pseudo-marriage-like relationship. Non-practicant Eastern Christian, though I really really despise people who diss religion(and am afraid of all things cultish, ever since my mom joined a Buddhist one). I like to think of myself as the impersonation of "Jack of all trades, master of none"(seriously. I play about 4 different instruments, all beginner level. Can get my way around 4 foreign languages, though I am fluent in none. Have heated debates about ancient history though I couldn't tell you which millenia anything was happening in). Used to be a socialite monster until BPD coupled with agoraphobia hit me when I was 18; nowadays I stutter and freak out whenever I talk to people and got held back in Uni because I skipped so much(mainly cause I was afraid of talking in class). I used to be a journalist before that set in, too, but for obvious reasons I had to quit. Before that, i was a weird chick that yelled a lot, did debates, motorboated girls and travelled around Europe finding places to stay at people she'd just met(and I was adorable, so it worked).

I'm rocking Aggie's haircut right now and that would be kind of weird, so have an old picture. And yes, I still have zits.
