8/19/11 Don't know if I want this

I've just figured out what it is about Agenny that has bothered me from the very first, even despite my cheerleading for them.

All they do is fight.

I've been bugged by their constant name-calling, even though it's clearly affectionate. I was most pleased by those moments of hesitant touching and kissing that were sprinkled throughout the build-up to all this. And while the sex is apparently hot, it's just that... I'm with Aggie. There's no tenderness between these two. And that, in any intimate relationship, is a serious problem.

For the first time, I'm no longer sure whether I'm rooting for them to stay together.

"Do you have anyything worth living for?" Not actually the most relevant questino right here. "Where are you going" would have been funny there. "Splat but for you."

Given Penny's last statement, coupled with the fact that there are only three more pages, I'm convinced that the two of them are going to be the only ones onscreen for the rest of 'August'.

Wait... three more pages in August or in the whole comic? Given where it is now, I can't imagine the whole comic wrapping that quickly.

Today's page is has 'Associated Text' that reads: [Comic: August, 23 of 26]. 'August' is the current chapter. There will be three more pages in this chapter. IIRC, after that there will be a twelve page 'Coda'. Then that will be it. Finito. Done. Ended. 'Game over, man.'

T has stated that a sequel comic is in serious consideration.

So now I'm wondering... why has Penny done such a 180 on her no life plans for love policy?

I'll admit it may be premature. But don't tell me it's not fair.

Don't get me wrong - I think a lot of you are being foolish. Love doesn't have to be gentle touchy-feely Presbyterian sex in order to be healthy. You can have a sex life based on rough sex which doesn't in fact mean that the couple secretly hates each other or they're unhealthy or anything is wrong. You don't need to have cuddle moments that would work on a commercial. People are happy as cuddly, people are happy with rough sex, people are happy as mistress or master and slave. Love comes in all different flavors and ways.

Who's a fan of the movie, Secretary? This girl, right here.

That said while I don't believe that rough sex enjoyment is a sign that the relationship is only based on sex I do see a problem here. However the problem is that Penny loves Aggie for her passion. She likes Stan when he was all worked up about stuff, she liked Rich when he was all grr and dynamic. That seems to be her attraction point. Now, Aggie is dynamic, don't get me wrong, but I don't think she's the sung me moon struck kissed me quite insane type that Penny seems to be looking for in the end. She's the sort to want the slap/slap/kiss - the same thing that you other fans who were looking forward to that ship to sail wanted.

The problem is really Aggie realizing that's not what SHE wants. Simple as that. Nothing more or less.

I feel bad for Aggie here. Her girlfriend is kind of psycho. And I have always kind of hated Aggie and liked Penny. But wow.

My favorite part about this strip? Aggie's hideously ugly shirt is ripped. Unless she has a closet full of spares that thing is gone daddy gone.

To be honest, i've always been a Aggie x Marshall fan and think they should be together.

I notice a lot of people are complaining about the lack of tenderness in this relationship. That is not the problem. As has been mentioned by Kitsuiko already, not all relationships have to be lovey-dovey-cutesy-bootsy. The problem here is that Penny is openly stating that she wants to have arguments with Aggie just to manipulate her into rough sex. That's dishonest. Of all the things that happy, successful relationships can do without, honesty is not on the list.

There is a major, major difference between "I like rough sex, let's play hard," and "I like rough sex and I am going to fuck with your emotions in order to get it."

Not to mention, if I were Aggie, I would be pissed at Penny's last comment there. "This is who we are." No, it's who you are. Aggie still has a right to decide who she is.
