T has told us that age of consent is 16 where they live (based on Karen and Marshall). So they might not be able to go internet with it, but at least within the state.

AoC for actually having sex and the age where the producer can't be prosecuted for filming and distributing images/movies of you having sex are not the same thing.

In the US the former changes from state to state, the latter is 18 across the board.

Canada, the former is 16, the latter is 18.

Can't say for any other countries.

Yeah, I guess that's the safest way to do it, then. In Kentucky, age of consent is 16, and now that I'm in California, it's 18.
I freaked out my husband's brother by telling him I was 17. It was pretty funny. (I look it, apparently.) I have trouble wrapping my head around the disgust, though, just for the fact that 17-year-olds having sex is totally fine where I'm from.

So, like, if there's a picture online, my husband might be like, "Ew, she's like, sixteen." And my brain is like, "She's sixteen. Sixteen = sexytimes."

dfsjkfhdskj. Consent laws are complicated. Point is, saying "eighteen" across the board is probably the safest way to handle it, I was just raised in a place where eighteen is practically ancient. >_>

I think it's probably because too many of us harbor PSL (perverse sexual lust) for some/most of these characters, but have managed to juuuuuuust skirt that line of admitting PSL for a minor, no matter how fictional, and thus avoid that list. Now, funny enough*, I can admit I'd happily take Sailor Jupiter to bed, as she's got a set-in-stone birthdate, and like me, hit "legal" over a decade ago.


*Funny because she's 14 when we first meet her in the series, 15-16 when the series ends, and that was back in the early 90s'. And yet, DeviantArt still classifies the character as "a minor", despite her being like 3-4 years older than me. XD

The ability to consent to something requires that one is capable of understanding the implications of what one is consenting to. Consenting to producing porn and having it distributed is VERY different from consenting to sex. The first thing may come back to bite you for the rest of your life, the second is soon forgotten by the rest of the world, if they even find out about it at all. Also, the first is usually done for money, and the second usually isn't (and also is illegal for money when under 18).

I think it's disturbing people don't see that difference, and honestly I'm not sure 18 year olds should be doing porn. OTOH it is a bit weird when one can have sex at 16 but can't view porn until one is 18 - or maybe it isn't, from a "don't teach them bad stuff" point of view.
