It's been asked, so:

Are Fred and/or Daphne still in contact with the main group? (For that matter, is Fred in contact with Sara?) I would assume that Daphne would still be talking to Aggie and Lisa, at the very least, in addition to Fred.

Fred and Daphne have some contact with Aggie and Lisa, but it's limited because of the film-painting sessions, Aggie pursuing her relationship with Penny (still not Daphne's favorite person), and Lisa getting a little Stan on the side. (Fred and Daphne aren't as opposed to Stan as Penny's old friends are, but Lisa and Stan don't really have the kind of relationship where they socialize with other people together in public.)

Since I'm guessing that everyone is aware of Penny & Aggie being an item now, is Daphne annoyed that Penny snatched Aggie away (since she once hoped for Aggie to be gay) or is she still hurting too much over the break with Sara to really care? Also, it seems that while the group at large hasn't taken sides after the breakup, does Daphne hold a grudge with any of them for continuing to be Sara's friend, or is she mature enough to not take it personal?

At her worst, Daphne expresses the thought that their friendship with Sara, and Aggie's involvement with ***Penny,*** shows a lack of common sense. But even Daph can't resent Penny specifically for "stealing away" a girl Daphne never would have pursued if Sara had stayed with her. Daph has her faults, but she's no cheater.

On the subject of Daphne, what is it that she hates about Penny, even after the different groups of friends merged? Is it merely a personality conflict, or her history with Sara, or is it something deeper/more specific?

"What you stand for, bitch" sums up a lot of it. In Daphne's initial view, Penny was heteronormative social tyranny made flesh. And even now (even NOW!), Penny doesn't entirely mind that description, though she prefers "benevolent dictator." She continues to see herself as an alpha, just an alpha who's sensitive to the needs of the pack, and she continues to see herself as wielding social power, whereas Daphne identifies strongly with the geeky outcasts.

Approximately how many strips will the coda be after "August" ends?

I'm terrified that you already have a definite answer for this. The end is way too close. ;_;
Have you decided about that spin-off possibility yet?

I'm betting with all he's got on his plate, a small break is in order.

I dunno if this is spoilery, but if it's not gonna come up in the comic...
How much does Stan know about the camera usage?

It's definitely something that I want to do, and I'd like for the transition to be smooth so this community can more or less come right over. But I still need to sort out some details.

All the essential facts-- that Aggie needed it for a film which was important to her and which had a small but non-trivial chance of going viral.

Stan's principal focus is his college application at this point. He's not without regrets about his relationship to the rest of the cast, but he's more jaded than Lisa is about his prospects for recovery on that front. So why not appeal to Aggie's sense of justice and get his name on something he can link to? It might be the deciding factor that gets him a scholarship.

...Man, it just hit me that we probably have presented Stan fully on-panel for the last time already. I thought he might show up in this one scene in the coda, but it doesn't really make sense for him to appear personally there. Nor is there a good story reason to bring him back in the spin-off, or even to do a little one-shot with him. "Mister Smiles" said what really needed to be said.

Still, I'll miss him more than most. He represents some of my own worst failings, and who I might have been in another life. I'm not sure what it says that at least two of my best friends in comics, as well as many of this series' biggest fans, loathe him utterly. But to me he'll always be more of a sad, lost figure than a villain. A cautionary tale.

Wait, that wasn't an answer to anyone's question. Oh, well.

If I may be so bold to make a suggestion: put up some material (following the same mon/wed/fri update schedule) like character sketches, unused story lines, etc. during the transition period. You know, material that doesn't require too much investment from you or Jason, but that can function as a sort of methadone to suppress withdrawal symptoms among P&A junkies. All depends of course on the length of the transition and how much of that type of material you have.

Have you ever considered writing simpler comics where it's immediately obvious who's right and who's wrong in order to avoid the interminable and sometimes heated reader discussions?
