Wow, the forums didn't explode as much as I anticipated, when I saw tonight's comic.



I think the chemistry's been dying since, uh, well, since Finister did too.

...I think Penny's tone might be a little bit of worry that she's changing Aggie, which she doesn't really want to do, and she knows Aggie was terrified of that happening.

Yeah, I was thinking something similar. , People are really focusing on Penny's hesitation, but I was more bothered by Aggie's "You liked it right?? Did I do the thing you liked?"
So penny might be worried that Aggie didn't really want to or something, and was just doing it for her.
I hope this leads to Penny realizing that rather than having Aggie hold the reins they should work together in the direction and speed their relationship progresses.

I've been reading this comic for a while, and I think the characters have great potential to be together and going through this, but something about the way it's been shown, I'm simply not feeling it. I don't know if it's the art style, how they just look, posed together..

I am a fan of the pairing, but I have to cast my vote with the 'not feeling them chemistry' crowd. I just can't put my finger on it..

Also Penny hasn't looked very happy during the whole sex portion, but she could be sorting through her own feelings and past.

Perhaps she would have preferred some more romance, but didn't push Aggie away because she was worried Aggie may take it as rejection. Rich could take being pushed at, maybe at this point Penny isn't so sure Aggie can.
They were just involved in a bit of a relationship scare/conflict involving Aggie's emotional sensitivity and Penny made efforts to reach back out, but we haven't seen them talk about it and come to closure.

I'm going to have to agree with the whole lack of chemistry comments going on here. Personally, I already had my shipping goggles on pretty tight when I started reading (especially since I started reading around The Lady and the Tiger and powered through the archives in a day). But I feel like these two had a lot more chemistry in the beginning of the comic than they do now. Even the few pages of Older!Penny and Older!Aggie showed a lot of chemistry. Meanwhile, these two feel really forced together. And not in the sense that there wasn't enough build up, there was certainly a lot of hinting, but the way they act around each other feels more like they've just been... well, drawn together.

To be honest, I feel like I might change my tune if/when we get to see more introspection on Penny's side of things. We know the doubts floating in Aggie's mind, but I'd like to hear Penny's thoughts on it. I feel it's been a little hard to tell what she's feeling/thinking going by her facial expressions alone lately.

I can't agree. Panel #2 shows her face (albeit in profile) filled with the wonder of watching her lover's face in the throes of the ecstasy that she induced. That's happy, friend. As happy as you can get.

So here's a funny story.

Tonight, I decided to check the update while at work. This is the first time I have ever done so, as I generally value my professionalism above my webcomic readership, but come on. This was the third most significant cliffhanger in the entire history of this comic, following "That's what she'll do to the world" and the soda can scene. So there I am, at work, I pull up http://www.pennyandaggie.com...and I see the black box of warning.

There ensues an "OSHITE" and some frantic scrabbling for the little red X on my browser. And then the longest three hours ever until I could get home. I may or may not have driven as cautiously as I usually do.

As for today's strip, I have only one word to say, and that word is "Aww." Confusion? Yes. The seeds sown of future conflict? Certainly. Ambiguity, mistrust, lack of resolution? Aye on all counts. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to gently remind you all that this is Penny & Aggie that we are reading. If you've followed the story thus far, I'd assume that you're comfortable with these things. In this moment (or rather AFTER this moment, nudgewink), they're content. And Aggie in particular, in the last panels, makes me Aww.

For the record, I respectfully disagree with those who do not see or feel the chemistry between them here. I feel it. I think you are picking up on the uncertainty here as well, which dilutes the effect...but the sizzle is still there. They've just got a long way to go before they get the mixture quite right.

I'll give you that, defiantly. I had chalked it up to what my boyfriend calls 'sex fog'.

Aggie seems to be enjoying the afterglow, Penny looks more like she's still processing things, and I am so curious to find out what she thinks and feels.

I'm just curious about the virgin jitters thought. Wouldn't these be "post" virginal jitters or is it different when the first time is with two women? I suppose if one is bisexual then there might be 2 events when virginity is lost. Of course with sexual pleasure having many different levels I suppose each time a new plateau is achieved is technically a loss in virginity.

I think I should keep in mind it's just a comic and really just relax.

At this point, I should probably comment on how I thought T Campbell was just going to fake us out, and Penny & Aggie's sexual tension wouldn't go anywhere.

Re: the lack of chemistry or whathaveyou

This made me think (way) back to my first time. It was more hyped up since we felt like we should be doing because everyone already thought we were - it wasn't planned out as a perfect night, it just sort of happened during some free time. And it was fine, but not mind numbing...and two virgins were left wondering if they did ok. That's exactly what I saw here. I don't think realistically most people are left speechless or incapable of thought after their first time, or even a first time with someone new or a new way.

Penny may have some experience feeling attractive and in control, but she still isn't screwing someone every night - she's had little experience in the bedroom and almost none with being out of control. Aggie has even less, so her trying to take some control in order to own a piece of the night also doesn't strike me as odd or out of character.

I get the confusion or lack of chemistry others have mentioned - I don't agree but I understand. However, for today's posting I think it's right on and it makes me have even more hope for them because they care about what the other may like or may want.

I don't like thinking back to that panel because I DESPERATELY don't want Aggie to turn into that. "If the disenfranchised knew what their best interests were?" FUCK THAT. People in dire straits (and I don't mean the band) already know what the fuck they need and they don't need any Colter clones telling them what that is.

I'm reasonably sure this isn't the first NSFW warning in this comic's history, but I took one look at it and thought "They're either having a clothes-ripping fight, or they're doing the horizontal hucklebuck. Lord, please let it be the latter" and scrolled down. I sighed in relief and then opened a new tab. I'll agree with Aggie's "virgin jitters" and say that maybe Pen was a little shocked at Ag's "SAY MY NAME! *SMACK*" attitude at the beginning, but I think a good time was had by all. You have a lover, Ag. Enjoy it. And next time, let Pen take the lead. Always good to know what you and your SO/fuckmate/whatever like to do in private.
