I just noticed that the thread on music's been deleted, along with my painstakingly written posts on Shoegaze and Britpop. I thought about archiving them, but I figured that a message board would keep them safe. Oh well.

I've recently been busy with the girlfriend, but we're long-distance and she's had to go home, so I suddenly have lots of spare time. I've been finding a bunch of new musics to listen to and I wanted to share them.

Last month marked the 100th birthday of Robert Johnson, delta bluesman and one of the spiritual fathers of rock and roll. His music, recorded in the mid 1930's and released upon British kids by Columbia records in 1961, would inspire an entire movement reintroducing the blues to popular music worldwide through the efforts of the likes of Eric Clapton and Keith Richards.

This is the birthspace of modern blues and rock. Chuck Berry would continue the idea of translating a pianist's patterns to guitar and become world famous a decade before Johnson would be remembered, but this was the source.
