Dark humor, anyone?

I'm sick at the moment, so I keep coughing. This exchange just happened:

Val: *coughs violently* I'm gonna die.
Morgan: You're not gonna die.
Val: I dunno. Dad coughed a lot, and then he died.

(Dad had lung cancer, for anyone who doesn't get the joke.)

...it's not as funny typed, but it was funny out loud, I promise!

Alright, so gimme dark funnies. (Just gonna put an all-purpose trigger warning here.)

My mom was talking about the news that a Syrian refugee here in the Netherlands saved someone from drowning. I said “yeah, the ones who manage to get here are the ones who can swim”.

(I like how this cruel joke brings the bigger perspective back into view. There’s so much news and talk about how much of a burden the refugees are, you’d almost think they appeared out of thin air.)

A number of years back at my alcoholic uncle's funeral:

Mom: "You and Donald always got along really well."

Me: "Yeah. He actually told me a long while back that he wanted to be cremated, but it's just as well we didn't, he was so soaked in alcohol he probably would've burned for a week."

Mom: "Oh my god! This is his FUNERAL, JOHNNY!"

Me: "Yeah, and YOU know he would've LOVED that joke."
