Hint: when a law about something is very different in places around the world (or even just around the USA in this case), there’s probably a lot of opinion involved. Especially if your opinion then happens to match the law of where you live, you’re going to need better arguments than “it just is”.

The sky is blue on a cloudless day on Earth. This is true everywhere. This is something about which you can say “it just is”.

Maturity, who is able to understand the concept of giving consent, who is able enough to resist pressure from who to make consent meaningful, that’s not so obvious (no name pun intended).

Here’s a fact: on none of MY birthdays did I receive a book, brain implant, or whatever that made ME suddenly capable of consent. I guess this was an administrative error, and will report my ex to the police for having sex with someone who accidentally still has the mind of a child :P .

Repeating something from a reply to a PM because it’s worth reading for everyone: people say “mature” when they mean “slut”, and let rapists get away when the victim is considered a slut. When I say maturity, I mean actual maturity, as in understanding ones own and others’ emotions, understanding consequences of actions, etc.

Now, to bring the attempt to move back to facts and logic from my previous post back to topic:
  1. In the location where Sara is, it would be illegal for anyone to have sex with her, even if her partner was 17 too.
  2. Using the moral logic I proposed, Meighan would definitely be a rapist if she had sex with Sara, Hillary could be a rapist depending on the situation (having power being the director), and Lucy could be a victim depending on how dim you interpret her to be.

Not all that surprised California has a complicated legal system regarding people under the age of 18 and sex.

Best to avoid sex altogether until all parties are legal. With easy availability to pornography celibacy is not so difficult.

Like Frank Sinatra said, "When you're a one man band no one gets hurt."

A good thing coming from this discussion: it’s more clear to me just how evil Meighan is.

She noticed she made a mistake assuming Sara was at least 18. That could be for other legal reasons related to the production of the show, but seems to have something to do with age of consent. I interpret it as it being legal to put something on TV that very clearly implies a sexual relationship between cast members when they’re all over 18.

So who was she shipping Sara with? Pretty Lucy, or unsympathetic Hillary? I think it’s safe to assume Lucy.

What does she know about Lucy and about Sara? Lucy is not very bright, and vulnerable because of that. Sara has been accused of being a rapist. Putting those two together for drama is just...
