...and thus we see the future of how the series would end...
There was a girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead, and when she was good, she was very, very good, and when she was bad she was homicidal.

Pretty much any ending with footrubs is a happy ending. Bah. That sounds wrong.

Wait, you mean this is not where the series ended and got replaced with something completely different?

Authoress Penny may still exist yet, but Aggie Rand disappears when her younger self chooses who she wants to be. I know that's disappointing for some, but others were satisfied. Personally, going from a shrill liberal to libertarian is hardly an improvement.

I must confess to never reading the Minjung chapter since I started reading this strip just before the Popsicle War and only reread what was related to the plot so for me this is the first time I've ever read this part.

I never read it because it was too much of a change and I knew it was pointless.

Well they did find away to write the main character into the finale so this does provide some background.

I'll own. I never noticed that.

Neither would I, but enough people on the boards that did identified Duane's future girlfriend as Yun Sung from the Minjung chapter.

Even if I had read this chapter originally I don't know if I would've remembered the name. Yun Sung looks different since she's now an adult and drawn by Jason Waltrip.

So now I gotta ask, was Daph's Susan from anywhere?

She is Daphne's Joss Whedon fantasy brought to life. She could be Cyndi on some elaborate scheme and she wouldn't care until she was pushed into the pool.

Forgive me for wanting to jump off a bridge at statements like this. "Minjung" will never be my favorite storyline-- Ryan Estrada's sense of pacing and mine just did not mesh at all. But I did it for a reason that was really important to me: I wanted to put the whole "teen dramedy" idea through the lens of another culture, examine someone who would therefore be so different from the rest of the cast-- and yet, how similar! I had a plan from the start that Yun Sung would end up at Belleville somehow, though my original plan was for her to join in an exchange program not long after "The Popsicle War."

They're never pointless to me! They're all my babies.

I liked that arc. I'm trying to remember how I felt reading through the first time, but I remember liking it.
