And unfortunately, that's all she is, for the most part: A Lisa ex Machina. If we were shown why she feels this is her particular calling, I'd grok her motives better.

Sadly learning people's motivations was not the strong point of this comic.

Good point, but Aggie and her friends were minding their own business for a change when Sara walks over and starts in with her theory that Aggie is secretly in love with Penny. Lisa certainly escalated tensions with her little gesture, but given her accusation of closeted feelings for each other while being in the closet herself probably motivated Lisa.
