Parent's Nightmare: Duane is an idiot. "I'M TELLING YOUR DAD!.....soon as you tell me how to get to your house." Course, it looks like it was a dream sequence.....so that means Ag's dad thinks Duane is an idiot?

Shoposphere: This is why I generally just send cards. It's HARD to shop for people.

“... My identity is not for them to define. And it’s not for you.”

And then she buys stuff to tell others what to look like.

I know, but then again if she's blind to one important part of her identity then it's not surprising that she has cognitive dissonance when it comes to buying things to improve people's looks. I find it especially irritating with Michelle since it's not like she has the money to upgrade her wardrobe. Maybe she's covered her family's financial situation, but I doubt someone as smart as Sara wouldn't be fooled.

At this point in the strip, Michelle was making an effort to conceal her family's financial situation, IIRC.

Yeah, I think it's pretty much the point of the entire storyline. She thinks she's oh-so-much-better-and-smarter than everyone else, clearly. She understands everybody and should influence everybody, but she is beyond the ken of mere mortals.

Which is, of course, hilarious ;)

Y'know, that kinda sorta reminds me of someone else from this comic... can't quite put a finger on it.

Also, the "other sides I haven't explored" comment while checking her backside via a mirror, is funnier than it should be. Might be lack of sleep.

Pardon my inglese.

Aside from the part oddtail mentioned; I think part of this storyline was also exploring the role dynamics Sara fulfilled. We previously had seen her as Penny's right hand-- then the sort of devil's advocate. Then we see it explored...flaws and all.

I like how this sort of foreshadows Sara's ability to read people and her taste towards marketing and economics-- something that was echoed in The New Reality & QUILTBAG & Six Septembers Later-- although yes, her attitude at this point is still very much 'I know thou better than thou'; very different to the time of her wrestle with Descartes.
