What do you think someone would pay for one of these bracelets?

Nothing.

Help with prices?

Postby Valerie » Thu Apr 25, 2013 9:00 pm

I'm gonna be lazy and c/p what I wrote on a different forum. >_>

Valerie, on a different forum, wrote:So, I've been making paper beads out of magazines, junk mail, etc. It's actually pretty relaxing, and I'm pleased with the results.

I got brave and wrote to someone who owns a small business here, asking if she would be interested in selling my bracelets. She said yes. o_o *faints*

Um, so anyway, here are the pictures I sent to her:

Picture 1
Picture 2

And here's the description I sent to her:

The paper beads are made of upcycled magazines, old paper, receipts, etc. I cut the paper, roll it, and coat the outside of the beads with clear nail polish to give a little bit of resistance to it. They are not water-proof, but I've gotten a few drops on the beads without any trouble. I rushed to dry them off, so I can't tell you exactly how long you can leave water before it causes damage. Either way, best to try and keep them from getting wet.

There's one bracelet pictured that has tube-shaped beads (red and white). The beads for that bracelet were covered in clear tape instead of nail polish.

There's a 50/50 split on the profit, so, for example, if she sold something of mine for $2, she and I would both get $1.

I hope that's enough information for you guys to help me out. I've asked one person so far what she thinks people would pay for a bracelet, but I want as many opinions as I can get before I put price tags on them.

Have any of you ever sold anything you've made before? o_o I'm kinda nervous. Is there anything I should know about selling through a vendor...? It's a little different from like eBay and stuff, I think.

I actually am not going to sell this one, I think, but I like how it turned out and have to share it with everyone. >_>

Paper beads that didn't have enough matches to make a bracelet were painted black, and the pendant is made of an old earring and a plastic flower that I got for $0.25.

The picture is super-blurry because I fail at self-shots.

It looks great!

Shame you're not selling it, now I can't ask if the girl is included ;) .

Now you got this playing in my mind.

Also, nice proof how creativity can turn inexpensive stuff into something nice.

Depending on how long does it take to make one bracelet, I would put from $3 and upwards. Most likely up until $7. I voted $3 though.

I think for the skill and the aptitude involved, it's still worth the cost.

And Val, that's really really pretty.>_<
