Context here and in the following strip. Again, SPOILER.

Dunno.
But I am deeply amused by the idea that Ruth's cruel bullying of Billie up to this point was her idea of flirting.
Amused and perhaps horrified.

Totally. But that doesn't necessarily mean much. Penny and Aggie had a pretty solid number of reasons they disagreed with each other beyond the awkward flirting, and they had a pretty slim chance of working as a couple. I know 20 2020 Pennys wasn't about P&A, but the two wound up together in, like, one scenario? Of course, Penny has always been willing to stake it all on a 1/20 chance.

Of course, I haven't read anything in Dumbing of Age beyond these pages, so what do I know?
The notes of this paradoxalist do not end here, however. He could not refrain from going on with them, but it seems to us that we may stop here. - Fyodor Dostoevsky, Notes from Underground (trans. C. Garnett)

o_o I didn't know Ruth was in third grade.

WELP. (yes, still a spoiler)

Also, I always thought it was Walky who was in third grade, or acted like it.

Go ask Alice; I think she'll know.

I'll take "OWNED, BITCH!" for $1000, Alex.

After treating Billie like pureed shit for the entire comic, Ruth had that coming and then some.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night, and good luck.

While I am deeply troubled by the idea that kissing Billie is Ruth's idea of taking the bullying into a new direction.

Except that Ruth seems both taken aback and hurt at Billie's reaction to the kiss. (Not that she shouldn't have seen it coming.)
