I can't completely speak for the young man who just got done with his date, but I will say this: It was harder to find a virgin in my graduating class than the reverse. It felt pretty good to have been one of the ones who waited (especially when only about 15% of the relationships survived past high school. Or past the beginning of junior year. Or past the first fight...)

Oh I know. I was just sayin', he's probably got a good reason for not just jumping right in just yet. :) (Heck, he might not have been expecting that she might want to be intimate, and his wallet is lacking an important piece of equipment as a result.)

Well she might have condoms, just because the most common means of contraception are used on the piece of anatomy that (usually) belongs to the man, (assuming for straight/cis-sexual sex here), doesn't mean that it's always the man who has to bring it.

I...think it's more like Michael backing out rather than Marie pushing back. Although...that look can mean anything, Marie. What are you thinking, the fact that he isn't there to warm your bed? Or the fact that his consistency is too tough for your indigestion? Or his 3 sizes? Or tomorrow's class? Ay, ay.
The thing scary would be both happening, I think.
Michael backing out, then Marie, feeling rejected, decided to push MIchael back and thus, the last panel.

One's clueless. The other is cryptic.

My only question is: Why should I care? So far nothing has been established to make me care about these two characters, either together or separately. I don't even know enough about these two to know who or what to root for. The date seemed to go well, but ended inconclusively? *shrug* Oh well, whatever.

Wake me up when we get back to characters I have an investment in.

I just noticed a nice little touch. Jason has included Michael's dimples (yes, I have them. they tend to show up when I'm grinning or smiling.) So I would make a guess that someone's feeling quite good, although that's probably about to dim quite a bit.

I like the double meaning of "later".
Artemisia: if we cannot sympathize or understand then all we claim to be as human beings is just marsh gas
Valerie: Lia knows how to turn that frown upside-down. :D

Kind of. I mean, the initial thing of him seeing the bottles and jumping straight into "she's a huge alcoholic" with our friend Hank was interesting, but yeah... if we're doing a romance subplot I have to have more reasons to care than that.

FWIW I read this as Marie extending the invitation and Michael completely failing to read it. Shocker.
