The other film, if I understand correctly, premiered before a Pixar movie, but was created by indie filmmakers.

Most short films are variations on the first 8 min of "Up". That's where the Pixar guys cut their teeth.
Either that or, they're Wallis and Gromit.

But maybe he'll say "I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine" or something similarly condescending and she'll realize he's not for her.

Or she's a psychosexual and will only see that as an invitation to fuck with his mind.Adrishiana wrote:I kind of hope this doesn't actually go the way of "romantic relationship," namely because, if Marie has the problems that Michael suspects, it seems like a friend would be better for her than a boyfriend at the moment.

Given that happy and lasting relationships have only a slightly better survival rate in a Campbell comic than they do in a Whedon TV series, I also suspect that something will screw this up. And given the concept behind this particular comic, I further predict that "something" will be sexual incompatibility of some kind.
Namely, if Michael was literal with his "waistline" comment, he's likely asexual (although not necessarily aromantic) and is trying not to woo her but get her out of her shell. His reaction to today's last frame will help confirm this. (Although, if he IS asexual, it's less clear why he initially followed her to her room.)
