Why is everyone assuming this guy is a worse choice than Jade? All he did was offer his notes and then stumble over his words a bit. Hardly makes him a bad guy! Is it just because he's male and everyone wants Lisa to be a lady-lover?

Second of all, why is everyone calling him a hipster? I live in a city full of them and I've never met one that dresses like that. He lacks sunglasses, feathered hair, obnoxious band-you've-never-heard of t-shirt... hell, just google "hipster" and you'll see nothing that resembles him. At most he looks like a slightly alternative rocker type. Yes, I realize I'm nit-picking.

I can't speak for the others, but I'm certainly not assuming anything. It would just be amusing for Jade to do that sort of "territorial" thing, and they get into a knife-fight like in the "Beat It" music video, with the rest of the class (and some people from the dorms) dance-fighting in the background.

I am a tad perplexed how that just sprang out of my head like that. Normally I have to work at it, to get the zany flowing...

Edit: I could be wrong, but I think there are at least eleven different characters wearing the same colour jeans in this strip.

Since fashion dictates what is in stores, it also dictates what colors are in. Even when not shopping fashionably (none of the cast except for Fiona strike me as such) they probably buy from the same niche stores, which tend to still have the same color jeans. So one year this washed out gray will dominate the pants-scene, then the dark blue, then what not. (I haven't worn jeans in years, but we used to be about 5-20 girls in class with the same color)

Also, multiple jeans color in a bright colored strip would be a bit too much color, imho. There are only so many bright colors that you can look at without going blind.

You're not nitpicking, at least I don't think so. I read the comic, was reading the thread, and was all "OK, but why a hipster? And what exactly is so wrong with him?", and then I saw your post, and was like "LOL, nevermind, this guy wrote my post for me already".

Heck, if anything, the non-hipster in the comic seems awful nice. I don't see what he did wrong rather than being in the way of an incoming ship =P

...plus, I think he's more attractive than Jade
