Some made a semi-valid point about 'hey, liking a show designed for girls made them a bit pedobear, no?' but:
a) that's still sexist and prejudiced as hell, not to mention sending weird assumptions all across,
and b) What do you say about netorare tentacle orgy lolicon pettanko doujinshis? But noooo, they are sick as fuck, but they are sick as fuck for guys.

Okay, I might expect too much from the (assumed) worst of the nerd community, but.

As far as I can tell, the issue is more that there's a segment of the brony community that is... well, yeah. It's not liking a show targeted to girls making them pedobearish--it's the pedophilic comments, the pedophilic fanfic, the pedophilic fan-art, and so on. Because the community itself is so young, they haven't gotten around to the part where everyone looks around and goes, "Hey, we really don't want to associate with those guys over there." So you get bronies on brony forums making rape jokes, and not being told to knock that shit off.

Basically, every fandom has its jerks, and we haven't learned to get rid of ours yet. (I'm not actually active in the Pony fandom, tbh. Too big to keep track of.)

I'll be honest, my days have not been going well, even without the communication issues tucking things up. My grandfather has been very sick for the past couple of weeks and he was recently hospitalized. His liver and kidneys are failing and I'm really afraid he's going to die soon. Worst of all, my family has gone up to visit him but my mom says that I don't need to come up and is putting a better face on things than there actually is. Three of my cousins were told the same from their mom, who is my mom's youngest sister. I'm afraid I won't get to see or talk to my grandpa one last time.

Go anyway. I was in a similar situation a few years ago, and I'm glad that I insisted.

I just noticed that 'Goddess' is misspelled in BCD's alias, and it's going to annoy me every time I look at it.

Sorry, retrophrenologist. I was a bad speller when I first came up with the name and it just sorta stuck. You can just call me B Cat or Xandy. I don't mind.

I'm sorely tempted to go. My parents are back home now, though, which would make things a little weird to say the least. I've also got a bunch of responsibilities I'm trying to sort out before I can go; sadly, unlike my mother, I don't have vacation time I can just plop down on this, nor have I been working for so long that missing a day means nothing as far as money goes. I just feel so...bunched up on the inside. I ended up calling my grandmother today and the call was far more difficult than I thought it would be. My grandmother's this really peppy lady, always has some perk in her voice. When she answered...it sounded empty, hollow even. I can't help but think that she's prepared for the worst and is under no illusions that things'll get better. My Zaide's beat breast cancer AND colon cancer; for him to go out like this, it just hurts in a very visceral way.

On top of all of this, I'm trying to clean my messy apartment to have company over tomorrow, but my boyfriend is of little help; he forgot he had an assignment due tomorrow and is working on it, leaving me to do the vast majority of the work. I've reached my breaking point and I'm nowhere near where I want to be as far as cleanliness goes. I'm not going to stay up late for it either, because I've been almost useless at work due to several weeks because of terrible sleep. So...I'm going to be worrying about my apartment now on top of everything else. I don't know what else I can do at this point without just shuffling around the mess.

So uh. This is actually funny in how over-the-top it is, but it's not actually that funny 'cause Morgan's upset.

I went to get paint for the upstairs room yesterday. Dad went with me. I chose pink. While the guy was mixing my paint, Dad said, "It's a good thing your husband is a metrosexual." The paint guy, thinking we said something to him, asked, "What?" I replied with, "He was just saying it's a good thing my husband is MASCULINE enough to not be afraid of pink."

I told Morgan about this 'cause I thought he would appreciate the burn I got in on Dad (about how my dad is not tough enough to deal with colors), but he was mostly just mad that my dad is an idiot (which is the appropriate response, let's be honest).

So he posted this over-the-top, kind of funny thing on FB:

Morgan wrote:This is gonna be long: So Val is painting her upstairs sanctuary - which I can't even get to without more effort and foot pain than I care to think about - pink. That I don't mind this, or our bedroom being a pretty gender-neutral shade of purple, makes me a "metrosexual" in her Dad's bigoted caveman brain. Okay, I'm not offended by ostensibly feminine colors, apparently that makes me bi-curious and effeminate myself, which are also apparently bad things. I have no idea why I'm so offended by the moronic opinion of this socially-backwards chucklefuck assclown, but I am. And I can't even go tell him to violate himself with a giant rainbow dildo to help relieve some of those repressed and projected thoughts he's so scared of, because it may well get us kicked out onto the street. Because the only person I know that can throw a bigger tantrum than this grown man is my four-year-old sister. Fuck everything. Also, sorry if my language offended anyone.

I wanted to share 'cause it's kind of funny, but it's also, uh, a bad thing, so it goes here. XD;;

See, every time I see the word metrosexual, I think "sexually attracted to metropolises". I know what it really means, but that's what I think of.

Freemage : Rule 34 must have worked its magic as well. *siigh* That's also several shades of facepalm over there...then. :( I'm speechless.
And the link you posted, gah.

Bubbles : ....no. Not at that time. Sorry for the reverse psychology. :(
And in love LOVE with metropolises...would be amazing? (Also: LOL@ Kamino)

Lady Obvs : :) While I can see that, and I understand that could happen.. I dunno, it's just..ugh. D:
And no, the problem wouldn't be cowardice-- which you are not. It's a set of (reasonable) risk avoiding that at one point stops becoming profitable...from what I'm seeing.
Also, sorry for the harsh words, my day hasn't been that good yesterday.

Black Cat Godess : Oh, dear. I'm so sorry D: *hugsss*
Yeah, I think you should go anyway -- him being sick in the first place.
And boo for the piling responsibilities. Boo. I dunno what to say-- that sort of things are just...equally crippling as it is demanding. How are you doing those?
I hope the necessary ones will be solved.

Val : LOL at that. And also fail at your dad....That's so. Like. Ugh, can he be more stereotypical than he is?

Surely metrosexual = shags like a rapid transit system? Try that one on your Dad.

Woke up a few mornings ago with a sore throat, and now I'm hacking my lungs up every few minutes. Feels like my whole esophagus is sore now, not just my throat. Chest hurts too. Bleh.

I was making plans to try and go up this weekend to visit my grandpa. I have to go up there now.

For a funeral.

Oh, you poor dear. I'm sending you hugs by express delivery; they should arrive within two-six hours.

Thank you, Bubbles. As bad as I feel, though, I can't even imagine what my mom, her sisters, and my grandmother are going through.
