Well I wasn't melting and got to cuddle a cute little baby. X3 A very cute one. So today's been good.

I'm proud I did the laundry as a little surprise for mom. X3

Got to sleep in and had my favorite restaurant's food twice. :3

Hubby just showed me this video, and it made me a bit happier. BEST FLASHMOB EVER.

I don't know about that. Isn't this piece of music more suited to gradual escalation?

Personal choice, I suppose. It's definitely another good flashmob, and a good piece of music for it, but I've never been wild about Boléro (though I recall reading a fascinating article in Wired years ago about its use in one man's testing of new cochlear implants). I've heard Beethoven's Ninth Symphony referred to as the greatest achievement of mankind, and I think it makes a pretty good flashmob, too.

Right, after a long hard day at work and I come home grumpy and tired and annoyed at stupid people, how do I cheer myself up?

This.

If you're anything like me, this is a sure-fire way to kill all productivity for the night. Hope you weren't doing anything important! :D

In any case, it just proves how truly amazing he is: he smashes his head on a neon light and outright refuses to break character. He doesn't just stay in character, he refuses not to. And stays in character WHILE refusing!

In stark contrast to Bubble's post in the Bad Day thread... :P

Last night, I worked. We closed at 10. There were four people still in the dining area. One of them joked, "Do we have to do the dishes?" I said, "Yeah, get back there!" They laughed, I laughed, all was well.

So I continued about closing, putting things away, cleaning, etc. I was sweeping when one of them got my attention and said, "What time do you need us to leave, sweetheart? And be honest, I used to work in a restaurant, so I know you want to go home."

"Um. Well, I have a ride, so I don't have to catch a bus or anything. You guys are okay."

They left anyway.

Some people are stupid-inconsiderate, so I get all warm fuzzies when I have customers like that.

Even better was a few weeks ago, a man and a woman walked in about five minutes before we closed. They were trying to decide what to eat, and the man asked me what time we closed. I told him 10:00. He checked his watch, turned to his ladyfriend, and said, "That's in a few minutes. We'd better order it to go." Then, after getting his food, he looked at me and told me to have a good night and be safe getting home.

WARM. FUZZIES. EVERYWHERE.

I used to work in fast food and we had both types of customers. Some of them would order their food to go if we were close to closing whether it could be finished beforehand or not, and others would hang around the dining room yammering until the only thing we had left to do was clean the area they were sitting and we actually had to tell them to go away. You get both kinds. Just that our boss has us pretty much spoiling the customers so they don't decide to go anywhere else, and when we can't give them their way it's like a, well, spoiled child who didn't get their way.

Oh, those deff exist, too. They're the reason the people I mentioned in my last post are so great.

Personally, I think everyone should be required to work in the restaurant/fast food business for at least 2 years during their lives. Think of how much nicer the world would be! D:

Val, what have I told you about being in my head? Stop that.

(That's pretty much word-for-word what I've been saying since day one at my first job.)

I'm not completely sure that would work because there will always be those too self-absorbed to be nice. And think of all the suppressed rage people will then have clogged up in their souls (not that many of us don't already.) Perhaps another solution?

Now I'm thinking 'Final Solution to the dumb people problem'. Too much WW2 on the cable box.....

Oh that's easy! We just set up a huge sign with something like "free *whatever* if you go do this", and make like Tempts Fate. Voila, natural selection in action!
