This song has been running through my head since the strip ended.

Unfortunately, I'm deeply out of touch with current music except for a handful of performers. And what TV execs would probably do to maximize the appeal is commission a cover that I'll likely find deeply unsatisfying. Some ideas along those lines:

Funny: Paradise by the Dashboard Light as a duet between Lady Gaga and Christina Scabbia (of Lacuna Coil). Hell, I'd just love for a female vocalist to completely gender-switch this one for laughs.

Tender: Hounds of Love. It's a nice match for P&A lyrically, the trouble is finding someone with the chops to do it. Placebo's previous cover of Bush doesn't suck. Eivor's cover lacks subtlety, and The Futureheads' version is more a novelty. (My top choices at this time are Janelle Monae, who has brilliant production instincts, and Esperanza Spalding as a out-of-genre longshot.)

I would LOVE to see Janelle Monae cover Kate Bush...

I always kind of saw the theme of the series as "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World. It's a pretty mainstream choice, but I never found one I was more at peace with.

Going out on a snog would be more fun.
