Or like the fan theory that Ferris Bueller is a figment of Cameron's imagination the entire time.

There is an actual trope for this called 'All Just a Dream'.

"Alice in Wonderland" has this ending, but it's not an integral part of the story that comes before it.

"An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce is a better treatment.

"The Analogues" by Damon Knight has a similar twist. It made me permanently more paranoid.
"The fair Ophelia! -- Nymph, in thy orisons be all my sins remembered."

'All just a dream' is rather different from 'dying dream', is the thing.

I would say that All Just a Dream is more a third person perspective whereas Dying Dream is a first person perspective. Say for example if this all really is just Aggie's dream, then it would be a Dying Dream. But if it were from Penny's perspective, it would be All Just a Dream.

Towards Alice's point, it could even be that we're seeing reality juxtaposed with fantasy; which would lend itself to the storyline stemming from Penny's perspective. It'd be a mostly indecipherable mess at that point, but then again it could still work, considering a majority of the other character's more recent storylines have been based around their own romantic relationships. It'd be as though Penny were living vicariously through the relationships of her friends through some sort of faux relationship with Aggie.

And then Jack Dawson drowns in Titanic only to wake up on an island where he's captured by Saito's men...

What? That doesn't make sense at all.

It's a fan theory. 98% don't make any sense.

Do a google search for "Ferris Bueller Fight Club Theory" It's a fairly popular theory, even though it has enough holes to sink a ship.

Most fan theories do; that's what makes them so interesting, and ultimately, funny. In the sense of "Did you really just read/watch/play the same thing I did, that you're coming up with this theory that has so little to do with what actually happened in it? XD" that is.

It occurred to me. I was originally going to say "surely he wouldn't, he wants to retain an audience for the spin-off", and then I thought "Guilded Age". Well, I hope he remembers a bunch of us stopped reading Guilded Age when a certain thing happened

Agenny seems to be in a "status quo is God" thing here. They're together. Then someone does something that seems to jeopardize the relationship... and they're together. And again... and they're together. We've been doing that cycle since the kiss, with breaks for other characters to appear. While the "anything could happen at the end" thing is good and all, it's also a bit of a pain. We could be using this remaining time to get a last look at other characters, instead of yanking everyone's chains on Agenny over and over again until T decides to let us know how it ends up.

Here's my theory:

  • Penny and Aggie break up on the last page of the chapter and decide to hate each other forever.
  • The coda is about them going to college.
  • On the last page of the coda, they find out they somehow managed to accidentally go to the same college and cannot avoid each other for a large part of the day.
  • The last panel of the last page of the coda is "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-"

YU+ME=dream implied repeatedly that the second half might all be dying dream, although this was never confirmed.
