Not quite yet up to phoning home and explaining that she's going to spend the night at Aggie's because putting on clothes again is too much of a bother, eh? ;)

Lynda's typically a pretty observant one, and I do so, so, SO hope she's right in her line of thought here.

Lynda is a shipper.

Also, I think the (sigh) at the beginning says volumes about where Penny would RATHER be, tonight.

DUN DUN DUNNNN

Seriously, though, for those who've been biting their nails off since the ambiguity and doubt of the previous strip, this new development--overhearing her father saying what he really thinks about the relationship--could be a good thing for Agenny. Penny, as many of us have noted before, is the type to stand up to adversity, not to back away from it. So this new knowledge, disconcerting as it must be for Penny to hear, might just bring her and Aggie closer together.

On another note: her hair's mussed! For once she isn't reflexively fussy about her appearance! :o

OK, I'm lost. Who's talking here? I thought they were at Aggie's house.

They were. She's sneaking back into her house.

Ditto. Did we just skip a day or something?

She's sneaking back into her house, late at night. The door in the first panel is a front door. The people speaking are obviously her parents.

From her experience with Rich, I think Penny will go to whatever college she wants (and that will accept her) when she damn well wants to. Her father has a point; those choices will change the course of her life. But she is no one's seed pod.

Ah, I see. Somehow, I thought she was sneaking out of her own room.

Anyways. That ominous (sigh) has me thinking two entirely opposite ideas. Either she's really relieved to be home, or she'd much rather be back at Aggie's.

Or it's a sigh of relief. "Thank the fates, they're not up. I can get to my room without all the "and where have YOU been, young lady?" drama......wait, what are they saying?"

I don't think I like Rob's tone in panel 4. Does he mean she'll outgrow being spoiled, or she'll outgrow having a good heart?

To be fair, it would be easier to recognize the door as the front door if it had some way of looking outside the house - a window or peephole in the door, or windows beside it. The Levacs' house has a weird egress, I guess is what I'm saying. >_>

Or her dad could be voicing doubts that she already had.

Wow, I have been in this exact same position when I was a teenager. Only my parents weren't talking about romantic entanglements and college, they were talking about my lowlife friends and kicking me out.

Considering college is the last thing mentioned, I think that will probably be the focus re: Pen & Ag next. Not solely college, but possible future-planning concerns on the whole.

Nice of Rob to talk about Penny being spoiled like it isn't his and Lynda's fault.

And while Penny does have a history of standing up to adversity, I don't think she'd get closer to Aggie if she's not feeling the relationship (*pauses for inevitable dirty jokes*) solely because adversity is present. That said, it could force her to examine things more closely and thus get closer to Aggie as a result of said examination.
