Recent Interview with T

Postby Alice Macher » Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:08 pm

Found this July 5 interview with comics and graphic artist Sylvia Liu Land on her blog:

http://www.sylvialiuland.com/2011/07/interview-with-comics-writer-t-campbell.html

Among other things, T discusses the workflow and writing process for his comics (using the 2009 P&A stories as an example), lists recommended webcomics, graphic novels and how-to books, and--Yay!--announces he'll soon be assuming writing duties for Magick Chicks "on a trial basis."

Very cool, thanks Alice. Guess i'd better acquaint myself with the Magick Chicks archive.

I'm surprised that T reads Out At Home.

I thought I was one out of only about seven people in the world who had stumbled across that little gem.

Less surprising now that the two teenage girls are the official main characters.

You know, if that was really true, I would hope to see a lot less Thurman. Good gravy, but that is an annoying character. Absolutely no redeeming characteristics. :x

I believe the interview is a bit old. Plans have changed for now. Dave has an arc all planned out to last us for a couple of months on MC. T is still involved on the editing side though. :)

Ah well. I'm enjoying Magick Chicks as it is anyway, Gisèle. Love the MLP tribute you, Dave and Shouri have going right now! ♥

Thanks! ^_^ The ponies were pretty much Dave's idea, but Shou & I are having fun with it too. ;)

That's Rarity.

The only humanized pony left of the main cast is Pinkie Pie.

Oh, and Sandi is totes Spike.

Only if Tiffany is Derpy Hooves.

(Good lord, why do I know this stuff? I don't even care about the ponies.)

Backing up Gisele here: After much discussion, we've decided to keep me in the role I've occupied on all Gisele's comics for a while, that of editor. (I am a pretty involved editor, for what it's worth-- it's not uncommon for me to rewrite a punchline, and Gisele and Dave have probably learned to dread it when I say "But this has to MAKE SENSE!" Still, I've probably ended up learning about as much as I've taught.)

And this is why you don't let things slip in interviews until all the contracts are signed. Gotta remember that. Sorry for any confusion.
