Poll -- Jack's Sweat

Postby Papuasblya » Tue Jan 16, 2007 1:39 am

Now what is the deal with Jack's sweat drop on the forehead? We've seen this device without explanation when he is sitting and talking with Stan, clearly not physically exerting himself. Yet we see him do it in frames that are simply close ups on his face without words. What makes Jack sweat?

It's a manga convention. Shorthand for one or more of: fear, nervousness, frustration, and the like. In the strip you're presumably referring to, Jack is frustrated with Stan's lack of listening skills.

As this is not touched upon much AFAIK, who knows why?

For all we know, it could be something else entirely. So, yes, I'm siding with shadrach... go figure.

... I tried.
I really, really tried.

But how could I ever resist a random, gratuitous CCS reference in a meaningless poll? :)

My real answer of course would be the hoodie, if it weren't for that deliberate sabotage. :p

Maybe... the hoodie, you say? Perhaps... maybe if it were too hot.

He's probably imagining Michelle naked, that's not why he is sweating, but he probably is imagining her naked anyways.

As for the sweat, it's a manga convention.

Wasn't it Stan, not Jack, who made out with Michelle (never mind only see her naked) during the PG-13 storyline??

Yeah, so? ;)

I only say Michelle because in the example Shadrach gave they happen to be discussing Michelle.

(I'm also joking)

So? She's still a hottie. There's no need to actually see a girl naked or make out with her in order to imagine her naked. (Thank God. :) )

I just wondered if he ever did it with her or any girl before, yet?

So far I don't think we've had any insight into Jack's romantic aspirations. (or lack thereof)

All kidding aside, I think of all of them Jack is the most likely to be gay. [cue Seinfeld clip: Not That There's Anything...] Note I am saying most likely. I am not saying is.

1) He's the only character that we NEVER see interacting with a woman. He doesn't talk to them (of course he doesn't talk to anyone but Stan when sober), we don't see him looking at them with any special interest, when he's on the internet he's looking at guys (clothing ads, not porn).

2) The only time he talks about women is in the context of Stan's relationship with Michelle, and he is concentrating mostly on Stan's emotions/actions/etc.

This is also totally compatible with him being straight and very shy around women. Jack's quite the unplumbed well.

Wow, good catch. Okay, he has shown interest in one woman but not obsessively. Straight? Probably. Shy? Definitely.

I'm still waiting for him to get some exposition -- all in good time. I suspect he will be fascinating.
