That's perfect. I ♥ that song!

Sadly, appropriate. :( (Not that I ever shipped them; it was just...sad.)

Oh yeah. Tee hee.

So, how are the Russian lyrics different from the English ones?

The Russian title -- and primary chorus -- translates as "I Must Have Gone Out Of My Mind." The English lyrics keep the intensity, longing and desperation of the original, but lose the clear sense of terror in the Russian lyrics that the narrator feels as she doubts her sanity -- and fears for her safety -- as a result of openly being attracted to another girl. I don't know why but somehow I think Sara's and Daphne's relationship could carry more physical danger to one or both of them than a relationship between Penny and Aggie would.

Interesting. Thank you, Paps. I had no idea the original of that song was that deep (well, as deep as most dance-pop gets). Particularly as it was associated with a transparently gimmicky faux-lesbian studio concoction. (To be fair, I understand the girls dumped their original manager sometime after they became legal, and have gone on record that they resented having to put on the lesploitation act with the naughty schoolgirl uniforms and the making out on stage and crap. I'm not familiar with most of their work since but I did like "Beliy Plaschik.")

Their original manager was a trained and licensed child psychologist. I kid you not. At some point he gave an interview where he admitted that he specifically set out to create a product that appealed to middle-aged pedophiles because, as he put it, that would make it easier for him to market the girls in England and Japan.

Wow. I never heard that part of the story. I liked "Not Gonna Get Us" and "Clowns" off of that album, but I never was really into any of their stuff after 200km. Thanks to GTA4 I got more into Gluikoza, Basta, and Ranetki Girls.
I'm now convinced that if you play Pat Benatar's "Crimes of Passion" over Penny and Aggie it'll totally synch up.

All I know about those two is their meh cover of "How Soon Is Now."

...pedophiles? How young were they? And England?

"Child psychologist" and "appeal to pedophiles" are two phrases that don't really belong in the same paragraph.

They were around fourteen, I think, when they first became popular in Russia. And yeah, the "child psychologist/pedo" thing creeps me out all to Hell and back.

I kind-of got into them for awhile, way back when, but that's just because I love hearing the Russian language, especially in music. It just appeals to me, I don't know why.

A child psychologist. *headdesk headdesk headdesk*

Anyway, technically his target audience would be hebephiles (Wikipedia it). Still creepy, though.

Was thinking more ephebophiles, but yeah, agreed. Still a bit on the creepy side of the ledger.

MUAJAJAJAJAJAJA!!!

whew! Glad I got that out of my system now rather than later. YO! I'm Harkel Tu, glad to meet you, etc, etc, first post! woot! anywho...

Pairing: Rich/Penny (Rich's perspective, during the time he felt penny betrayed him)
Song: You Don't Love Me Anymore - "Weird Al" Yankovic

We've been together for so very long
But now things are changing, oh I wonder what's wrong?
Seems you don't want me around
The passion is gone and the flames died down

I guess I lost a little bit of self-esteem
That time that you made it with the whole hockey team
You used to think I was nice
Now you tell all your friends that I'm the Antichrist

Oh, why did you disconnect the brakes on my car?
That kind of thing is hard to ignore
Got a funny feeling you don't love me anymore

I knew that we were having problems when
You put those piranhas in my bathtub again
You're still the light of my life
Oh darling, I'm beggin', won't you put down that knife?

You know I, even think it's kinda cute the way
You poison my coffee just a little each day
I still remember the way that you laughed
When you pushed me down the elevator shaft

Oh, if you don't mind me asking, what's this poisonous cobra
Doing in my underwear drawer?
Sometimes I get to thinking you don't love me anymore

You slammed my face down on the barbecue grill
Now my scars are all healing, but my heart never will
You set my house on fire
You pulled out my chest hairs with an old pair of pliers

Oh, you think I'm ugly and you say I'm cheap
You shaved off my eyebrows while I was asleep
You drilled a hole in my head
Then you dumped me in a drainage ditch and left me for dead

Oh, you know this really isn't like you at all
You never acted this way before
Honey, something tells me you don't love me anymore, oh no no
Got a funny feeling you don't love me anymore
I reject your rejection, and replicate my own!

From my personal experience, I find that even criticism and insults are far more preferable than a denial of existence.

Okay, in light of recent developments, a new song pick for Agenny: "Make Believe" from the musical Showboat.

Only make believe I love you,
Only make believe that you love me.
Others find peace of mind in pretending
Couldn't you?
Couldn't I?
Couldn't we?
Make believe our lips are blending
In a phantom kiss, or two, or three.
Might as well make believe I love you,
For to tell the truth, I do.

It's before the both of them put together in age, but Color My World by Chicago certainly fits.

As time goes on
I realize
Just what you mean
To me
And now
Now that you're near
Promise your love
That I've waited to share
And dream
Of our moments together
Color my world
With hope
Of loving you.

Not quite on point, but song for all, paired or not, as the final credits roll...

These Important Years- Husker Du

http://s0.ilike.com/play#H%C3%BCsker+D% ... 1f8675a443

We're all exchanging pleasantries
No matter how we feel
And no one knows the difference
'Cause it all seems so unreal
You'd better grab a hold of something
Simple but it's true
If you don't stop to smell the roses now
They might end up on you

Expectations only mean you really think you know
What's coming next, and you don't

Yearbooks with their autographs
From friends you might have had
These are your important years
You'd better make them last
Falling in and out of love just like...
These are your important years, your life

inspiration has struck me like a mallet to the face!

Release
Let me take on eternity
Taking one more step and let it rip through me
I'm building up my nerve
So you can wish me well
Or you can wish me hell
From pride we'll fall

for some reason that section of "Bye Bye Babylon" By Cryoshell just seems to fit what just happened with aggie and penny, right? penny finally built up the nerve to do something about her possible crush, and be it good or bad it's up to aggie to decide where this goes.

((full song))

Or you can wish me hell
From pride we'll fall

Bye bye, Babylon
Was reaching for the sun
Depraving everyone
So don't you know?
You don't belong

Bye bye, Babylon
Now scattered you will run
Left burning in the sun
Prepare to be...
Bye bye, Babylon
... be gone

Unseen
The prime obstruction is facing me
I wanted to retreat but you won't let it be
I'm calling for believe
Be sure I will be there
And you will fall

Bye bye, Babylon
Was reaching for the sun
Depraving everyone
So don't you know?
You don't belong
