The fact that there isn't more blood is a good thing. I think Charlottle lives through this.

And I PRAY Cyndi does not.

Not necessarily. Unless there was something on the laptop that said "Phase 1: Get Kidnapped by Charlotte. Phase 2: ??? Phase 3: Profit" then they don't exactly have a reason to go say "BUST THIS SUSPECT'S DOOR DOWN!" There would have to be definitive probably cause and I think technically a warrant unless the investigating officer heard or saw something going down.

Also writing it in that way would most likely force the author to have to use bad writing techniques. Retcons and infodumps are no fun for readers and writers alike! It's much better to show what's happening and honestly, an officer coming in and explaining it, or a news article just aren't good enough ways to demonstrate it. It's must better writing for the cop to have overheard it because that's using information the readers already are aware of.

When I read this latest strip, my first reaction was, "Well, she doesn't know this Carter fellow, so at least she won't be able to talk him into killing himself."

Yes, my mind is strange. :?

Alternatively, Carter is hotblooded/sucky cop who disobeys direct orders.

This could turn into a scene like in the Chris Hansen south park episode.

I think people put too much store on Penny & Aggie saying "Last week, Cyndi..." to Sara instead of saying "Charlotte". Realistically T had them mention Cyndi but not Charlotte to avoid giving away the next bit of the story. It can be easily justified by saying that Penny was going to say something like "Cyndi got kidnapped by Charlotte, and then Charlotte killed herself!". People like to tell stories chronologically.

I'm still 90% sure that Charlotte is roadkill and most people here are in denial about it.

There's no need for the FBI guy to have heard Cyndi, they already have her computer and know she's a sociopath. Whether it gets leaked to the media and she has to skip town in shame, or her parents agree to have stuck in the equivalent of Arkham Asylum, something will come of it. Cyndi making a nasty comment to her kidnapper in the heat of the situation is very small beer compared to that computer journal.

I kind of feel like Cyndi believes she's a James Moriarty without a Sherlock Holmes.

I read over the previous couple of strips again and there is nothing there for the FBI agent to have overheard that would clue him in to what Cyndi did. He is about to find out that bat-shit insane Charlotte kidnapped Cyndi intending a murder-suicide to rid the world of Cyndi's evil and her own evil, but at the last moment could not bring herself to do it and committed suicide. If he listened in to the whole thing that is all he would have heard. If had been really paying attention it might have made enough sense to sound like Cyndi convinced Charlotte that she (Cyndi) might not be as totally evil as Charlotte had supposed and that's what led Charlotte to only do herself in. Cyndi calmness could quite plausibly pass for being in a state of shock, emotionally drained after almost dieing and watching her killer kill herself instead at the last moment. Even the "I'll send Dwayne to join you in a year or so" would not have enough meaning out of context to register.

What I don't know is what the FBI man did see or hear that led to breaking through the door gun drawn like that. He could not have heard the bang and screaming when Charlotte used the hoe, or that's when he would have burst in. So what he heard was quiet conversation. Why did he burst in?

How old is Cyndi? For that matter, does it matter how old she is? She's confessed to enjoying manipulating people into suicidal behavior, and there is at least one person who might testify that she actually worked towards that end who is a pretty good witness. That's the kind of thing that can, perhaps, get folks put into institutions that they can't simply walk out of on their own. Cyndi's good, but is she good enough to fool a trained professional who knows what they're getting into (has the gloating note), isn't a distracted, stressed out teenager, and doesn't want really badly to screw/impress her? Personally I don't think so.

And I PRAY Cyndi does not.

Would that be the Christian God you're offering that particular prayer to?;)
