Damnit, Nick! We kind of needed you to show up right about now, too!

Well, I suppose it's technically Karen's fault. Or I suppose it's technically no one's fault. But really, that's some spectacularly bad timing.

(Minor edit there, Harrier. Probably springing from paranoia on my part.)

No big deal. I wondered about that myself...

Bah. This is the first strip in the storyline I'll call "LAME".

A comedy of errors based on assumptions and hidden motivations is one thing, but to need so much bad luck and physical clumsiness to move the story where the writers want it to go is another.

Seriously, what is Karen crying about? Her boobs hurt but she looks like someone punched her puppy. Has she already decided that Penny has stolen her boyfriend?

I'm just wondering if anyone else thinks that this seems to be excessive.

And yeah, I really don't see why Karen is already crying, either.

I knew those were emotional tears.

I'm going with Mel in guessing that she's decided she's too late to save Mar from Penpen.
Which I can understand why she's crying then, the thought of my boyfriend being swiped away is enough to bring me to tears. Then agian, I think our relationship is a tad different.

Anyone else notice that Nick's pants are still down? :D
Me thinks he's going to be out a little longer this time.
Long enough for someone to barge in.
And possibly ring the ambulance/police (In the incident of it being a stranger).

My eyes rolled so hard that it actually imparted angular momentum to my HEAD.

This keeps getting more and more contrived.

Yeah... I've stuck by this storyline for a while but it's just getting too twisty and turny. I'm impatient to see how it'll turn out and all these little details coinciding seems a bit much to me.

I will say this: it's well-constructed. It must have taken some planning. But it's not plausible.

Yeah, I have to agree with those who say today's strip has gone far beyond the realm of plausibility. What next? Will Nick regain consciousness, only to discover--too late--a ticking bomb in the closet? Will the ceiling right above Charisma's head suddenly cave in? Will Karen and Penny simultaneously trip and fall against each other, ripping off each other's clothes, just before an on-duty cop walks by? Will Marshall be swarmed by muggers just before he reaches Aggie?

Well, it's all stuff that could actually happen at least. I know I've had days where things continously seem to go wrong, at every corner, word, and person.

In the sense of being stuff that doesn't violate the laws of physics, yes. :)

True, this is fiction, and complete realism may be too much to ask for, but I think this story would play better on stage as a farce, or on screen as a cartoon or live-action piece, where the misunderstandings and slapstick happen all at once in "our" time, rather than as a comic strip arc stretched out over more than three months. Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but I suspect our minds are wired to accept implausibilites more easily when we experience them in rapid succession, thus preventing us from thinking about the whole thing too much. Feel free to apply this to other genres, such as action movies...or to political speeches and soundbites.
